TVA of the 21st Century -- NAWAPA
"In a thousand valleys in America and the world over there are fields that need to be made strong and productive, land steep and rugged, land as flat as a man's hand; on the slopes, forests-- and in the hills, minerals-- that can be made to yield a better living for people."
-- David Lilienthal, TVA: Democracy on the March
When America dreamt, it literally moved mountains and tamed rivers for the benefit of all mankind. Franklin Roosevelt, as with our other great patriots before him, like John Quincy Adams and Abraham Lincoln, fought for vast infrastructure development, not only to challenge the imagination of man, but, because it is the nature of man!
The accomplishments of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) experiment, what director David Lilienthal called "the Grand Job of This Century," was that quality of mission. It is this type of regional development and improvement of nature as seen with the TVA project, that propels humanity upward toward its rightful role as creator within the universe.
It is with this idea in mind, that I announce the initiation of my campaign's fight, to implement what Lyndon LaRouche has called the TVA of the 21st Century-- the North American Water and Power Alliance (NAWAPA). NAWAPA, too, is the kind of project that emerges when men dream. The most comprehensive project developed in the 1960's by the Parsons Corporation, NAWAPA is a proposal to secure fresh water in Alaska and Canada, and redistribute it southward through Canda, the United States and Mexico, greening the deserts, while providing abundant, urgently needed fresh water for North America. More than that, however, this project is the first step in realizing humanity's own role as a creative force in developing and harnessing the biosphere.
It is only this kind of project, vast in its scope, that will take California, devastated by years of takedown of its productive industrial and scientific capacity and left barren with water and budget crises that are a direct result of the fiscal austerity measures of Arnold Schwarzenneggar and the continued acceleration of the global economic collapse by a gutless Congress and an insane President, and once again, make it a leader in transforming our future. Once those, like Obama and his team, who oppose the aforementioned view of man, are forced to resign from their positions, then we can actualize NAWAPA and a new era in mankind's development can begin. As LaRouche has warned, we are approaching a deadline for the global chain reaction economic collapse of civilization. This project must be initiated by this September!
So join my fight. If we are successful in our endeavors here we can march on, as Franklin Roosevelt envisioned, with the development of other great projects, not just within our hemisphere, but the world over and, then, on toward 'a million valleys' in our Solar System, claiming humanity's position in the heavens.
